Hi, I’m Rebecca. I’m a stay at home mum to 2 gorgeous boys. I have found I have an unbelievable addiction to cake decorating! I started in early 2008 when I decided I should do the ‘mum thing' and see if I could make my eldest son Malcolm’s 1st birthday cake – but not just a packet mix from the supermarket with pre-packaged icing… I wanted to do a REAL cake!

I managed to search around and found myself enrolling in my very first cake class! It was for figure modelling where I learnt to model a teddy bear sitting on a blanket. Not really anything fantastic or special, but geez I loved it! I was hooked immediately and went home from my first class with quite a stash of brand new supplies and tools!  I was quite pleased with myself when I then went on to bake and decorate Malcolm’s 1st birthday cake in a ‘Go Diego Go!’ themed jungle cake. I had a fantastic time creating all the jungle animals and putting it all together.

Due to time constraints it was a few months before I made it to my next class which was for sugar roses and my next class then wasn’t until Mother’s day 2009 where I learnt to carve, assemble and cover a cake and to model a basic figure of a mother asleep on a sofa. Oh how I loved carving and assembling a cake! Despite the severe lack of time that comes from raising quite a ‘spirited’ Malcolm as well as my new baby Ben, I’ve been finding any excuse to watch online tutorials, read loads of cake books, participate in an online forum, and bake, carve and decorate cakes. I just love it!
